Philosophy

Scent
The cream has a fine scent of natural Damask rose oil. Damask, or Taif, rose has always been regarded as a royal garden flower, and to grow it elsewhere had been strictly prohibited for a very long time. In the Middle Ages, the rose oil was more valuable than pure gold. But even nowadays the flower is fairly rare, and its oil is still one of the most expensive perfume and cosmetic ingredients. Rose petals are harvested in peak bloom, during only 2 months, in May and June. This is done early in the morning, before sunrise, as the concentration of aroma compounds in petals is the highest at dawn. Harvested petals must be distilled before noon. Before distillation petals are weighed and mixed with purified water in specific proportions. The petals are placed in tightly closed copper containers and boiled slowly for 6 hours, the steam passing down through long tubes in coolers. The distillate drops are collected in a container, and oil spheres appear on its surface. This is rose extract. Renowned perfumeries claim that there is no scent better than that of Damask rose.

Tranexamic acid is a synthetic analogue of the amino acid lysine, that kicks off collagen synthesis in our body. This promotes hydration and regeneration of the skin, as well as helps cure inflammation, including acne.
Stearyl glycyrrhetinate is a natural component obtained from licorice extract. It prevents the breakdown of hyaluronic acid, restores the skin, healing its micro-cracks. Prevents cell damage resulting from exposure to UV radiation. In synergy with tranexamic acid the component prevents pigmented spots. Removes inflammation and protects the skin from allergies, has an antibacterial effect.
Hydrolyzed codonopsis pilosula filtrate works as a pigmentation inhibiting agent as it suppresses the activity of tyrosinase. In traditional medicine the component is valued as high as ginseng and is considered to be a highly potent rejuvenescent toner.

Balance
The cream is capable of balancing skin condition, supporting its natural barrier and removing excess sebum and sebum-related problems, such as oily glare, large and clogged pores, “blackheads”
Ceramides possess high moisturizing properties, preventing dry skin and wrinkles. They also enhance skin barrier function. Ceramides are natural lipids that are the main structural components of skin barrier layer. They prevent transepidermal moisture loss and work as a barrier against bacteria and environmental pollutants. The amount of ceramides in stratum corneum of the skin reduces with age, and this is one of the reasons the skin becomes dry.
Squalane is a lipid that forms part of skin’s natural barrier. Squalane is produced by sebaceous glands and remains close to skin surface supporting its barrier function. The amount of squalane our body produces declines with age, with peak production occurring at the age of 23. By the age of 50 the amount of squalane in sebum normally does not exceed 5%. Also, squalane helps prevent pigmentation (including the age-related one) and skin damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet.
